British award-winning actor Idris Elba has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for the team’s sterling performance against Germany in the second Group G match in Fortaleza Saturday night.
The football match left viewers glued to their screens as it ended in a 2-2 draw. Goals were scored by André Ayew and Asamoah Gyan for Ghana, while Gotze and Klose hit the back of the net for Germany.
Elba, who was born to a Sierra Leonean father and Ghanaian mother, shared a series of tweets while wearing Ghana’s national clothes of red, gold, black and green.
He tweeted: “#commentator voice “my flag being worn proudly tonight, as the Black stars take on Germany, it’s a moment of pride.”
He then added: “#Commentator voice “The atmosphere in Ghana is electric tonight, Accra is on Fire!!! with the anticipation”.
At the end of the match, Idris congratulated the team in Twi, one of the many dialects in Ghana.
