Miley Cyrus has been attacked by a charity for her “offensive” use of teddy bears during her MTV VMAs performance. Cyrus – whose video for ‘We Can’t Stop’ features a number of soft toys – emerged from a giant bear at the beginning of the controversial appearance and was surrounded by the cuddly creatures throughout.
However, the Teddy Bear Fund charity – which gives out stuffed animals at abuse shelters – has now become the latest organisation to voice its discontent about the appearance.
“Miley made a poor choice to use a universally loved children’s teddy bear in an offensive way,” a spokesperson told TMZ. “There is always good art and bad art – unfortunately… this was bad art.” The spokesperson added: “Hopefully she might consider reversing this situation by giving lots of teddy bears to children in need of comfort.”
While Cyrus has been attacked by famous faces including Brooke Shields and *NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick for her performance, she has also received messages of support from stars such as Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez and Adam Lambert.
Meanwhile, her father Billy Ray Cyrus has admitted that his daughter will always be his “little girl”.
